How do I search for horses?

From the homepage, select ‘Search’. You can
search horses without becoming a member.

On the ‘Search’ page, you can fill in as
many of the criteria fields as you wish. When finished, click the search button
on the bottom of the page which will bring up the results of your search.

To view more information and photos on an ad, click the
horse’s picture or description.
How do I create a Saved Search and receive Horsemail?
You now have the ability to save your most used searches
and receive Horsemail email notifications on new horses that match your search criteria.

Login to buyHorses.com and go to the Search page, then
enter your search criteria and click the search button at the bottom of the page.
-
This will bring up the results of your search. Scroll
down to the bottom of the results page and click the Save button. Name your search
and click Save again.

You will then be taken to My Searches, where you can
rename, edit, or delete your saved searches at any time. You can also control if
you receive Horsemail emails from your searches if they qualify. Each time a new
horse is added that fits your criteria, you will receive a Horsemail email. Be sure
you have provided us with an accurate email address.
How do I save an ad as a favorite or email the link?
You can now save individual ads as well as email links
to those ads to your friends.

Find the horse ad you wish to save and click on the horse
in order to see the ad in full.

On this page, find the ‘Favorites’ menu near
the top of your Internet browser, then click Add to Favorites. You will be able
to go to this dropdown at any time and click on the ad name to be taken to the ad
as long as it is active.

To email the link to an ad, simply follow the above steps,
but instead of saving it to Favorites, copy the ad link, then paste it into the
email service you use. This will provide a direct connection to the horse.
How do I become a free member on buyHorses.com™?

From the homepage, click on ‘New Member’
to create an account.
-
On the Become a Member page, fill in all fields and confirm
you accept our Terms of Use. User names cannot be changed once your account is created,
so be sure to confirm your user name is correct before clicking ‘Register’.
Please note your password as it is case sensitive.

How do I edit my account information?

Login to buyHorses.com then go to ‘Profile’.
You can manage your account via Settings, control your public Contact information
(including Seller/Ranch name), add Breeds of interest and Ranch Notes, or upload
a free Ranch Photo.

All information on the ‘Settings’ tab is
required and kept private, so if you have trouble moving to other Profile tabs,
be sure everything is filled in correctly here. The three password fields can be
used to reset your password if desired, but otherwise should be left blank.

You can publicly display a ranch website or show your
phone number via the ‘Contact’ tab. We recommend this as many buyers
would also like to reach you outside of our email system if you have horses listed.
How do I add a photo of my ranch?
-
Login to buyHorses.com and go to your Profile, then click
on the ‘Ranch Photo’ tab. You can upload or change a ranch photo for
free. Advertisements found here will be removed.

Click the Browse button to locate the picture you wish
to upload from your computer, then click Add. Ranch photos come to us for content
approval and then post to your account within 24 hours during the business week.
You can remove or replace this photo at any time.
How do I place a horse ad on
buyHorses.com™?
-
Make sure you are a member (free) and are logged in to
buyHorses.com. We no longer restrict you to premade packages, but instead offer
a step-by-step ad wizard, which takes you through various tabs.
-
The first tab you will be taken to, called ‘Details’,
contains all the basic information fields that should be filled in for your horse.
Clicking the Advanced button will expand certain options into more detail. This
is also where you may add a Stud Service for stallions. You can click Continue to
move to the next tab, or click ‘Add’ to save the ad and return to ‘My
Listings’.

Clicking Continue will take you to the ‘Description’
tab, which is where you can add highlights and a written description of your horse.
-
The ‘Photo’ tab allows you to upload your
horse’s picture (new ads come with a free photo). Click Browse to find the
picture on your computer, then click Add to upload the photo.

You may add up to 3 videos on the ‘Video’
tab for an additional cost. Videos must be added as YouTube links, contact us if
you need assistance with this.

The ‘Suitability’ tab allows you to choose
your horse’s disciplines and corresponding training level.
-
You may add up to 4 generations of your horse’s
lineage on the ‘Pedigree’ tab.
-
Finally, the ‘Summary’ tab allows you to
choose the ad’s time length and gives you the option to Feature your horse
(additional cost).

Once you finish editing your ad, you will find it in
your ‘Cart’. Here you can pay for the ad by clicking Proceed to Checkout.
You can also permanently delete an ad by clicking the trash can icon, or you can
make further edits by clicking the ad name. Clicking the [+] icon will expand your
ad’s charges to show what you are buying in detail.
How do I pay for my ad?

Make sure you are logged in to buyHorses.com and go to
your ‘Cart’.
-
Here you will see any items you have available for payment.
You may click the name of the item if you wish to make further edits before purchase.
Clicking the trash can icon will permanently delete an item, and unchecking an ad
will save it for later payment.

When you are finished editing your Cart and are ready
for payment, click Proceed to Checkout.
-
The invoice page will show any Horsebucks on your account
and automatically deduct them from your total. If your total is $0 you must click
Process in order to complete your order. If you have an amount other than $0 you
can choose Buy Now to pay via PayPal or you may Pay by Check (print the invoice
to send with your check/money order).
You will receive an email confirming your payment.
How do I save an item for later purchase?

If you have multiple ads in your Cart but don’t
want to buy them all at once, you may choose to save them for payment at a later
time.
-
To do this, login and go to your Cart, then uncheck any
ads you wish to pay for later. You will see the ad gray out and red ‘Save
for Later’ text will appear over the top of it. You may then proceed to checkout
with the remaining items in your Cart. The next time you return to your Cart you
will see the ads you saved.
How do I remove an item from my Cart?

Ads can only be deleted if they are newly created but
have not yet been paid for, or if an expired or expiring ad is in your Cart.

To delete an ad, login to buyHorses.com and go to your
Cart.
-
Click the trash can icon on the right side of the ad
you wish to delete. This is a permanent action so you will be prompted to confirm
the ad’s removal. Be sure you are deleting the correct ad as it cannot be
restored.

If you have an active ad that has a time extension in
your Cart, you can remove this item by clicking on the ad, going to the Summary
tab, and clicking None under Time, then click Update. This will remove the time
extension from the ad.
How do I place a photo on my ad?
-
Login to buyHorses.com and go to ‘My Listings’.
-
Click on the horse’s name to edit the ad, then
go to the ‘Photo’ tab.
-
Here you can Browse for the photo on your computer, then
click Add once you’ve found the picture you want. (New ads come with a free
photo, additional photos cost $3 each).

If you are adding a photo to a new ad you have yet to
purchase, paying for the ad will send the photo to us for processing. If you have
already purchased the ad and are just now adding the photo, be sure to process it
through your Cart, as you would a normal purchase. If you have other items in your
Cart you may save them for later, then process the photo.

Uploaded photos will be sent to us for approval and will
post within 24 hours during the business week. If your photo hasn’t posted
within that time, check your Cart to make sure it has been purchased/processed,
or contact us for assistance.

To mark a photo as the Primary picture, go to the Photo
tab for the horse and select the Primary radio button on the photo you wish to show
first.
How do I replace a picture on my horse ad?
-
Login to buyHorses.com and go to ‘My Listings’,
then click on the hose’s name you wish to edit.

Go to the ‘Photo’ tab, then click the Browse
button next to the photo you wish to replace. Find the updated picture on your computer,
then click the Replace button. You may do this to as many pictures as you wish to
replace, you will see the total cost near the upper right of the ad’s tabs.

When you are finished editing your photos, go to your
Cart to pay for the replacement pictures. Once paid, they will come to us for content
approval and post within 24 hours during the business week.
How do I Feature my ad on the homepage?
-
There are 20 Featured Ad slots that run for one week
starting on Tuesday afternoons. These slots fill up on a first come basis, so if
your ad doesn’t appear starting the Tuesday immediately following your purchase
day, it will post during the next available week (post date is shown by the Featured
Ad radio button on the horse’s Summary tab).

To feature an ad, login, go to ‘My Listings’,
then click on the horse’s name.

Go to the ‘Summary’ tab, select the Feature
This Ad radio button, then click Update. It will indicate the cost and the date
your ad will be Featured.

Go to your Cart to pay for the Featured ad slot. For
questions on Featuring your ad contact us via email at support
buyhorses.com.
What are Horsebucks and how do I get them?
-
Horsebucks are meant to be an easy way to purchase credit
to use in future transactions, rather than having to perform the full payment process
each time. For instance, you can buy Horsebucks now (1 Horsebuck = $1), then use
them toward purchases with us in the future, such as a new ad or additional photo.
Horsebucks will not expire and can be used until they run out (the remaining total
is shown in your Profile as well as on the Invoice page during a transaction).

us with a request for the amount you desire, at support

How do I search for my horse ad?

Go to buyHorses.com and click ‘Search’, you
don’t need to be logged in.

On the Search page, under ‘Identification’,
fill in the Horse Number or User Name then click the Search button on the bottom
of the page.

You should see your horse come up in the results page.
If you do not see your ad, login and go to ‘My Listings’, then check
that your ad’s status says ‘Active’. If it does not, click on
the horse’s name then go to the ‘Summary’ tab, where you can turn
on the Active radio button. Contact us if you have trouble accessing or finding
your ad(s).
Do I have to be a member to contact sellers?

No, you do not need an account with us to contact sellers.

To email a seller; on the horse’s ad, click the
Send Message icon.

This will take you to the message page, where you can
fill in your contact email and inquiry, then click Send.

Fill in the security code field then click Send again.
As long as the seller has provided a valid email on their account, they will receive
an email with your inquiry, which they can respond to directly. If your message
fails to send, please contact us as we’re happy to help get you and the seller
in touch.
How do I contact sellers if I’m a member?

Login and locate the ad you wish to inquire on, if you
are not logged in when sending the message you will be prompted to by our system.

To email a seller; on the horse’s ad, click the
Send Message icon.

This will take you to the message page, where you can
enter your inquiry, then click Send. As long as the seller has provided a valid
email on their account, they will receive an email with your inquiry, which they
can respond to directly. If your message fails to send, please contact us as we’re
happy to help get you and the seller in touch.
I received an inquiry from a buyer but can’t
seem to find it any more; can I resend it to myself?

Yes, to resend an inquiry, login to buyHorses.com and
go to ‘My Messages’.

On the right side of each message you have received you
will see a blue Resend option. Click this to send the message to your email again.
Make sure you have a valid email address on your account.
How do I access a User Name or Password I have forgotten?

Go to buyHorses.com and click Login near the upper right
corner.

If you do not remember your password, click Forgot Password,
then enter your User Name or email on the account into the ‘User Name:’
field. Click Submit to resend the password to your email.

How do I mark an ad ‘Sold’?

Login to buyHorses.com and go to ‘My Listings’,
then click on the name of the horse.

Go to the ‘Summary’ tab and check the Sold
radio button, this will mark your horse as Sold.
How do I renew an ad?
-
You can extend your ad’s time at any point, however
if you have an ad that is expiring or has already expired you will find it in your
Cart for renewal.

To renew your ad, login and go to your Cart then click
on the name of the horse you wish to renew. Go to the ‘Summary’ tab.
-
You will see three time options for extending your ad
(3, 6, or 12 months), choose the option you desire and click Update. This will update
your ad and save the item in your Cart for payment. Once finished, proceed to checkout
to pay for the renewal.
How much does an ad cost?
We now offer build-it-yourself ads rather than restrict
you to premade packages. Basically, they cost as little as you want. Ads work like
this: Ad Time + Addt'l Photos + Video + Service = Total Cost
Each new ad comes with 1 photo, additional photos or videos cost more accordingly.
Create an ad from the following options:
Ad time: 3 months ($10), 6 months ($15), 1 year ($25)
Add more photos or videos as you like ($3 per Addt'l Photo, $4 per Video)
Stud Service $15
Featured Ad $20
Here's a real-life example of an ad, though you can create
any combination of time and features you want:
6 months (includes 1 photo) + 1 Addt'l Photo + 1 Video = Total Cost
$15 + $3 + $4 = $22
Photos, videos, and stud services last the life of the
ad unless you replace them. Ad time can be extended or renewed at different increments.
You can also Feature your ad on the homepage if you want an extra kick.
My User Name/Password isn’t working, what do
I do?
Call or email us with any information you can provide
that will help us research your account to resolve the issue, ie. User Name, Password,
email address, your name, this helps us research your account more quickly.
I can’t seem to upload photos.
For trouble uploading photos, try following the steps
suggested under Place a Photo and be sure to check your Cart in case you forgot
to process the new photo through. If you continue to experience problems
email us (support
buyhorses.com)
and we will work with you to get the photo uploaded.
Can I email or mail my photos to you?
Though it is best to upload photos from your computer
as they are processed faster, you may email or mail us horse photos. When sending
photos, be sure to include the horse name or horse number, and your name with each
picture so they are placed with the correct ad. The best way to get photos to us
is through email. Be sure the photo is in a .jpg, .bmp, .gif, or .tif format. If
you wish to mail them, send actual pictures (not computer printouts) with the above
information to buyHorses.com, PO Box 6283, Bozeman, MT 59771. Include a stamped,
self addressed envelope for any pictures you would like returned.
How long before my ad’s photo(s) will appear?
We check for photos regularly and provide same day approval
on business days for uploaded photos. Photos uploaded on weekends may take longer
for approval but usually post within 24 hours.
What are acceptable payment methods?
The most secure payment form is with PayPal, where you
can pay with a credit card or bank account associated with your PayPal account.
You may also send us a check, though this form of payment slows the posting date of your ad.
Cash is not accepted.
Why can’t I see another user’s contact information?
We are committed to protecting our users’ personal
information by allowing each person to decide which details to disclose to the public.
Users may choose whether or not they wish to make emails, URL links, phone numbers,
or other information available on their ‘Detail’ or ‘Ranch’
pages. If you prefer to communicate outside the buyHorses.com™ email system,
you may ask that user for their contact information. Again, please complete your
due diligence before disclosing any personal or contact information!
The website display looks odd, what do I do?
Certain browsers will display the site better than others.
It is helpful if you have the most updated version of browser to best view our site.
If you do not have the latest browser there are fast and free uploads for most browsers
found on the Internet. If you would like help updating your browser please contact
us.
How do I report a fraudulent user or spammer?
If you run across another buyHorses.com user who you
think is behaving in a fraudulent manner, or if you are receiving unsolicited messages
